Television’s biggest names gathered in Los Angeles on Monday night for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where several familiar favorites and new hits collected major honors. During the ceremony, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Variety Series, adding another Emmy to the program’s final chapter.
The awards also marked a standout night for Widow’s Bay. The comedy won Outstanding Comedy Series and finished the Emmy season with 14 awards overall. Matthew Rhys earned Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the show and also won Lead Actor in a Limited Series for The Beast in Me, becoming the first performer to win two lead acting categories in the same year.
The Pitt took Outstanding Drama Series, while Noah Wyle won Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Jean Smart continued her Emmy run with another Lead Actress in a Comedy Series victory for Hacks.
Other winners included DTF St. Louis for Outstanding Limited Series and The Traitors for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.
