Luke Combs is stepping into animation for the first time with a guest role on Disney’s Big City Greens. The country singer voices Rusty Twang, a country music star, in the season five premiere episode Daddy Ditty.
Disney confirmed Combs’ appearance as part of the new season, which also includes several other celebrity guest stars. In the episode, Combs performs an original song called Watch Out for the Greens while bringing his familiar country style to the animated character.
The role marks a new kind of project for Combs, who said the opportunity stood out because his young sons are Disney fans. He also explained that Rusty Twang was close enough to his own personality that he was able to use a natural version of his speaking voice for the performance.
Combs has not ruled out doing more voice acting in the future. The appearance arrives during another notable period in his career, following his milestone as the first solo country artist to headline London’s Wembley Stadium.
