Ingredients
- 4 cans (15–16 oz each) pork and beans, undrained
- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup molasses
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Crisp the Bacon
Cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it is lightly crisp and fragrant.
3. Soften the Onion
Sauté the diced onion in a small amount of the bacon drippings until it becomes tender and slightly translucent.
4. Mix the Ingredients
Combine the pork and beans, bacon, onion, brown sugar, ketchup, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper in a large baking dish and stir until everything is evenly mixed.
5. Bake the Beans
Place the dish in the oven and bake uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes until the sauce is thickened and bubbling around the edges.
6. Let the Flavors Settle
Allow the baked beans to rest for about 10 minutes so the sauce can thicken slightly before serving.
7. Serve and Enjoy
Spoon the warm baked beans onto plates and enjoy their sweet, smoky Southern flavor alongside your favorite barbecue dishes.
